From IT Administrator to Head of IT. Now an independent consultant.

My career began in IT operations. I administered systems, planned and delivered infrastructure projects and later led IT departments and teams myself.

That experience still shapes how I work today. I understand more than project plans and management presentations. I know the technical realities behind them: dependencies, bottlenecks, day-to-day operations and the people who ultimately have to make things work.

Today, I work as an independent IT consultant, supporting organisations with complex IT projects, transformation and architecture. I want to understand how things really fit together and take responsibility – not simply pass tasks from one team to another.

Technology, leadership and commercial judgement

My technical background. I trained as an IT Specialist in System Integration and spent many years working directly with IT infrastructure. I also hold qualifications in IT security and IT service management. I still review technical designs and architecture decisions myself. I want to know not only whether a solution works on paper, but also how it will perform in day-to-day operations.

Leadership and commercial judgement. I have around seven years of IT leadership experience, including responsibility for people and budgets. I also qualified as a Certified IT Business Manager (IHK Ulm), achieving the highest examination result in my cohort. For me, technical decisions need to make commercial sense too.

Experience and responsibility. My career has taken me from heading IT for a municipal healthcare organisation to managing infrastructure at a manufacturing company, and then to international project delivery and enterprise architecture as an independent consultant.

until 2014

IT administration and early project responsibility

I started out doing hands-on IT work: administering systems, solving problems and keeping services running. That technical foundation still helps me assess designs and project plans today.

2014–2018

Head of IT at a municipal healthcare provider

Responsible for IT operations, staff, budgets and the development of the IT landscape across several sites. This is where I learned to consider technical and organisational decisions from an operational perspective as well.

2018–2021

IT Project Manager at a manufacturing company

Planned and managed infrastructure projects, including network and firewall upgrades, Microsoft 365, Citrix and endpoint security. Beyond the technology, success depended on coordination, resources and delivery while operations continued.

2021–2024

Head of IT Infrastructure at a mid-sized manufacturer

Led the infrastructure team and took responsibility for IT operations and development across multiple sites. The role included IT security and the planning and delivery of infrastructure for a new production facility abroad.

since 2024

Independent IT Consultant – FITSo

Today I support organisations with international IT transformations, infrastructure and network projects, and architecture and management decisions. My focus is on work where technical dependencies, different stakeholders and demanding project-management requirements come together.
